ACTNO. 8671 BILL NO. 34-0376 THIRTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2022 An Act posthumously honoring and commending Valmy Thomas for his contributions to the Virgin Islands community and by renaming Soboetker Lane and West Lane in his memory; making a $15,000 appropriation; and for other related purposes —~0--- WHEREAS, the late Valmy Thomas was born on October 13, 1925, in Santurce, Puerto Rico to Virgin Islands parents Valdemar Thomas and Clemencia Martin, because better medical care was available in Puerto Rico; WHEREAS, Valmy Thomas’ family returned him to their native St. Croix immediately after his birth, and he grew up in the “Pond Bush” area in the town of Frederiksted, later moving to the “Water Gut” area in the town of Christiansted; WHEREAS, Valmy Thomas was the third of six children, five boys and one girl; WHEREAS, Valmy Thomas was the father of five children: Lisa and Valmy, Jr. …
