ARE YOU 60 YEARS OR OLDER? DO YOU HAVE A DISABILITY AND LIVE ALONE? Government of the Virgin Islands of the United States Department of Human Services “Working Together To Make A Difference” ACT NO. 8058 An act amending title 34 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 16, adding subchapter II, providing for the establishment of a registry for persons 60 years and older with disabilities living alone during times of disaster. Age related declines increase vulnerability by making it harder to evacuate and protect themselves during natural disasters. Persons with disabilities are particularly vulnerable to the threats of a disaster and need help to protect themselves. The Department of Human Services, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles and the Virgin Islands Elections System would like to notify the public that all persons who are 60 years and older and persons with disabilities may enter their names on a registry with the respective entity so that they may be contacted to determine if they need emergency assistance during a manmade or natural disaster. …
