CROIX, USVI – On September 5 at approximately 6:49 p.m., officers arrested 36-year-old Ronald Lopez of Castle Burke, charging him with Carrying a Firearm Openly or Concealed and Simple Possession of a Controlled Substance. The arrest was a result of the Virgin Islands Crime Initiative in full effect throughout the Territory. Lopez was found with a firearm and marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop on the Melvin Evans Highway, near East Airport Road. Bail for Lopez was set at $50,000. He was unable to post bail and was turned over to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his Advice of Rights hearing. # # #
