Attachment REGION II FORM 132O-1 (9/85) TUT 006 1805 *64899* 64899 Tutu Well Field Site Date: 06 Hay 1992 231-24-088C R General A. There seems to be a discrepancy between the two compounds 1,2-dibromoethane and 1,2-dichloroethane indicated in the various sections and tables of the Short-Form QA Plan. Please address this inconsistency by clearly specifying which of the above two compounds are the parameters of interest for this project. Note that 1,2-dichloroethane is included on the TCL list of volatile organic compounds, where as 1,2-dibromoethane is not included on this list. B. Special Analytical Service (SAS) requests must be submitted for the analysis of Methyl-Tertiary-Butyl-Ether (MTBE) and n-propyl benzene by GC/MS. A SAS request may also be needed for the analysis of 1,2-dibromoethane, if it is a parameter of interest for this project. 1,2-dibromoethane may be analyzed by purge and trap GC/MS. CLP QA/QC criteria must be met. Note that the lag time for SAS requests is between 4-6 weeks. Additional lag time may be needed by the lab in order to perform MDL studies on MTBE, n-propyl benzene and 1,2-dibromoethane. This lag time must be taken into consideration when scheduling SAS samples through the CLP. 2 . Section 7F ~ QC Sample J^Ttalvsis/Trip Blanks* Pacr< 3 Specify that the trip blanks will be preserved with 1:1 HC1 to pH <2 just like any other aqueous field sample for VOC analysis. 3. Table 1 — Parameter Table for Snip-Surface Soil Investigation, Page 14 Please include cyanide in Table 1 for sub-surface soil analysis and list all the required information. 4. Table 2 - QA/QC Summary Table. Page 17 A. The collection of 10 field blanks for 14 investigative samples is excessive. As indicated in my previous comments to EPA, dated 24 February 1992, obtain 2 field blanks associated with 2 randomly collected split samples. B. Delete all aqueous and soil field blanks for TPH analysis. The total number of aqueous TPH samples are to be corrected to 8 and the total number of soil TPH samples are to be corrected to 6. TUT 006
