RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To confer Faculty Emeritus status on Velma V. Tyson, Ph.D. WHEREAS, at the June 18, 1981, meeting, the UVI Board of Trustees approved a policy for conferring of emeritus stats on former faculty members of the University of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, Dr. Velma Tyson has made several noteworthy contributions to the University of the Virgin Islands, including Chairing the Mathematics Department in the College of Science and Mathematics; and receiving Faculty of the Year Award and Faculty Advisor of the Year Awards, St. Croix Campus at various times, in 1991, 1997, 1998, 2003, 2006, 2009 and WHEREAS, during her years as a faculty in the College of Science and Mathematics, Dr. Velma Tyson produced scholarship and made presentations in the area of mathematics education; and WHEREAS, Dr. Velma Tyson retired from full time active teaching at the University of the Virgin Islands in 2014 after 19 years of service. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY THAT: 1. …

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Purpose: To confer Faculty Emeritus status on Velma V. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY THAT: 1. The conferring of Faculty Emeritus status on Dr. Velma Tyson is hereby approved. 2. The President is authorized to take such action as is needed to implement this resolution. 3. This resolution shall become effective June 20, 2020. CERTIFICATION The undersigned hereby certifies that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands and adopted at its meeting on Saturday, June 20, 2020, as recorded in the minutes of the said meeting.
