ACT NO. 6801 BILL NO. 26-0153 TWENTY-SIXTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2005 To honor and commend Ms. Gladys A. Abraham for her outstanding and dedicated service to the people of the Virgin Islands and to rename the Michael J. Kirwan Elementary School, “The Gladys A. Abraham Elementary School” ---0--- WHEREAS, Gladys Adina Abraham was born at Estate Contant, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands to Walter and Emma Abraham on October 11, 1922; and WHEREAS, Gladys Adina Abraham attended Nisky School and Charlotte Amalie High School and after graduation was employed as a temporary teacher by the Department of Education, serving, among other places, at the George Washington School in 1944, where she came under the tutelage of renowned educator, Mrs. Bianca Andre; and WHEREAS, in 1946, Ms. Abraham received her teacher’s license and to further her education, attended the Teacher’s Institute and Polytechnic Institute of Puerto Rico. …
