May 6 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has issued a proclamation designating Thursday, May 7, 2020, as a “National Day of Prayer,” with the theme of “Pray God’s Glory,” which is based on Habakkuk 2:14: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” In his proclamation, Governor Bryan said the National Day of Prayer is a time to specifically thank God for those who defend our freedoms and ask for peace throughout the state, nation and world. “”Leaders and all citizens of our nation are afforded the privilege of prayer, affirming our spiritual heritage and the principles upon which our nation was founded,” Governor Bryan said. “Recognizing the love and power of God, we unite with fellow citizens to exercise the freedom we have to gather in prayer with thankfulness while seeking guidance, provision, protection, and purpose for the benefit of every individual and our state as a whole.” To commemorate the National Day of Prayer, the Government Access Channel on Thursday will rebroadcast the Hour of Prayer at Government House that was hosted by Governor Bryan and First Lady Yolanda Bryan, as well as a compilation of prayers from Virgin Islands clergy from the “U.S. Virgin Islands Day of Prayer, Fasting and Reflection” on March 30. The Hour of Prayer at Government House will be broadcast at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, and the compilation of prayers will be broadcast at 3 p.m. on Thursday. Additionally, the Government Access Channel will broadcast a video of Governor Bryan reading the National Day of Prayer proclamation at various times throughout the day on Thursday.
