Hundreds of children and Adults dressed up in costumes and were lined up to participate in the trunk-or-treat event. Candies and treats were distributed by the VIPD Officers, St. Croix Rescue, VI Rescue, Department of Health MCH, HIDTA, VI Superior Court Marshals, Virgin Islands Office of Highway Safety, Karibbean Kuts Barbershop, AERO Medical and the VI Fire Service grilled the hot dogs and hamburgers for the families and gave out treats as well. “This weekend trunk or treat was a remarkably successful family event.” St. Thomas District Chief Steven Phillip said. "It was a pleasure to see the smiles on the children's faces. This type of positive event is so important to bring the police and community together. Chief Phillip further stated, “There's a saying it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes the community to help solve crimes.” St. Croix Chief Sean Santos, “Thanked the Community for bringing out their little ones, the participants, and his officers for coming out, and looking forward to next year’s event. VIPD Commissioner Ray Martinez, stated, “It was an amazing experience for our children and family members to “trunk or Treat” and have fun in a safe environment. Despite the rain in both districts this collaboration brought a smile to the children's faces. This was a free event, and it could not have been possible without our sponsors. The Mall of St. Croix (Sunshine Mall), The West Indian Company Limited (WICO), Pueblo Supermarkets, Cost U Less St. Croix, Plaza Extra East, Reliable Rentals, Marshall and Sterling, Davybe Radio Station, West Line Productions, VI Waste Management. And Livi Marketing Inc. The Commissioner concluded by saying, “He is thrilled about continuing to do these types of events and extends gratitude to the VIPD staff and all participants for their continued support and efforts.” ###
