This closure includes all Head Start Centers and Senior Recreation Centers. Essential services — including Meals on Wheels, Homemaker Services, and Transportation Services, will continue to operate as safely possible. VIDHS Commissioner Averil George emphasized the Department’s commitment to safety, stating: “The well-being of our staff, clients, and the wider community is our highest priority. While we understand that closures may cause inconvenience, taking proactive measures ensures that we safeguard lives. Essential services will continue, and we thank our dedicated team members who are ensuring those needs are met despite the challenging conditions.” VIDHS will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide timely updates to the community as necessary.
