PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE President, 2018 – Present Kingsborough Community College, City University of New York Overview • Provide leadership to 900+ faculty and nearly 1,500 personnel and 13,000 annually. • Manage a $164M annual operating budget, formulate strategic plans and priorities, expand external partnerships, and diversify resources. • Capital and technology projects (in progress) - $50M Strategic Planning/ Assessment ● Launched 2021-2025 Strategic Plan ● Convened the Assessment Leadership Council ● Launched the development of a Data Governance Plan ● Developed and Launched college-wide assessment framework QUEST: Quality, Understanding, Equity, Sharing, and Transparency ● Implemented the use of Signal Vine (two-way text platform) to administer Pulse Surveys to students to provide real time feedback to better to support retention Curriculum Development/ Workforce Development ● Launched nine (9) new online degree programs. ● Expanded fully online Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree offerings in criminal justice, an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in accounting, and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees in the business of fashion and tourism and hospitality. KCC is the only CUNY college offering those majors fully online. 2 ● Awarded $9.3M to launch a healthcare career hub with Medgar Evers College and Brooklyn College. ● Received $9 million in funding to establish an Offshore Wind training program. ● Received $857K+ funding award for maritime technology apprenticeship program. ● Partnered with education provider Green Flower to offer three online certificates designed to quickly train professionals to fill the growing skills gap needs of companies in the legalized cannabis industry: advanced dispensary associate, advanced cultivation technician, and advanced manufacturing agent. ● Partnered with Promineo Tech, a software development company, to offer several boot camps at about half the cost of similar programs. ● Awarded $110,000 by the NYC Mayor’s Office to offer free non-clinical doula training to qualified applicants as part of the Healthcare Career Credentials (HC2) Pilot program to reduce racial inequities in maternal health and support families in the city’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. ● Launched micro credential program in User Experience Design, Customer Service, Hospitality, Health Coach and Community Health Worker. Strengthening Student Support ● Implemented monthly Town Halls as a mechanism to increase communication between students and administration, identify institutional roadblocks and provide direct support and guidance. ● Awarded $175K from JP Morgan Chase to increase support to single-parent students. ● Received a $150K donation to support students in need during the COVID pandemic. ● Selected as one of eight colleges to participate in the Achieving the Dream (ATD) sponsored College Success for Single Mothers Project to support the success of women and mothers on campus. ● Launched KCC Flex, a program designed to meet the needs of adult learners by offering evening, weekend, and online classes. A team of specialized coaches and advisors support Flex students. ● Reorganized and restructured Academic Advisement ● Implemented Club Hour within class schedule to support student engagement in club activities and provide opportunities for faculty/staff to engage in administrative tasks and meetings ● Awarded $125K for the Urban Farm and Community Garden from Assemblymember Mathylde Frontus. Forging Strategic Partnerships and Enhancing Resource Development ● Partnered with Amazon to offer the company’s New York hourly employees tuition benefits so they can pursue Associate degrees at the Brooklyn campus and online. ● Partnered with NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services to launch V-CRED, a vocational training and apprenticeship program providing professional opportunities for youth in foster care, ages 16 to 24, at Kingsborough Community College. ● Launched job corps program for youth via a federal grant of nearly $1.2M. Awarded $1.2 million by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration to create a Job Corps Scholars Program for youth. • Awarded $710K to expand the CareerReady Work, Learn & Grow Program, administered by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development in partnership with the NYC Department of Education. • Partnered with the College & Community Fellow shop Program and Project Thrive to offer faculty and staff professional development series to help the college create a more welcoming and responsive environment for justice impacted individuals. 3 Advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ● Awarded $24,000 Campus Climate grant by CUNY to support trainings, workshops, and activities that support diversity, equity, and inclusion. ● Selected as one of 10 colleges selected to participate in the Achieving the Dream (ATD) + @USCRaceEquity Racial Equity Leadership Academy, a year-long program to develop & implement bold, strategic racial equity plans at our institutions. ● Selected as one of 70 higher education institutions to participate in the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) Institute on Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation Campus Centers. ● Awarded funding along with CUNY’s other community colleges from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Strengthening Community College Training Grants program to accelerate education and training programs in partnership with Amazon, Google, and nine other companies and non- profit organizations. Expanding Enrollment Pathways to Degree Attainment • Awarded $300,000 as a part of Achieving the Dream’s Accelerating Diversifying Nursing Pathways at Community Colleges initiative. ● Awarded a five-year, $2.25 million Liberty Partnership grant ($450,000 each year to serve 360 students) working in partnership with Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation and serving students at the Thomas Jefferson campus who are identified as at risk of dropping out. ● Awarded $250,000 by the Heckscher Foundation for Children, in partnership with the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation to re-engage high school graduates who applied to KCC but never enrolled at any college and re-enrollment of first-time freshmen who stopped out before finishing their degrees. ● Partnered with InStride's and their growing network of corporate partners to offer associate degrees to corporate employees with no previous college experience, the first step for many to attain higher education. ● Partnered with Amazon to offer the company’s New York hourly employees tuition benefits so they can pursue Associate Degrees. ● Awarded in partnership with NYC College of Technology a $1M grant from the CUNY Workforce Development Training Grant/Contract Courses to add credential and microcredential certifications in culinary cannabis to their existing hospitality and culinary arts programs. ● Partnered with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development to launch Work Learn & Grow program to focus on college and career readiness providing 2,155 New York City high school students the opportunity to take for-credit courses followed by a paid internship experience.
