Ash has accepted the post of principal of the St. Croix Graded Grammar School, formerly the St. Croix Hgjere Skole, Richmond. Mr. Ash is well known here as having been prin- cipal of the then Boys’ High School, and later of his owvn school where many of the successft , ~ung men of to- day derived their ed ation. Warsaw, Sept. 30th.—Polish {orces captured Lida, an important town 45 miles south of Vilna, and Pinsk, a forti- fied city ninety miles east of Brest- i Litovsk, on Thursday, aceording to an I official st>tement issued here. The Pol- | ish advance towards the northoast is | continuing, and the fall of Vilna, the Lithuanian Capital, is expected within a - few days Kamanetz-Podolva, acity on ' the northern bank of the Dnieper river . in Ukrania, had been recovered by - Ukrainian troops from the Bolsheviki. It was at Lida, now again in Polish ; hands, that Leon Trotsky was recently . reported to have established the head- | - quarters of a new DBolsheviki arm of ' ninety thousand men, designed for use | in an Autumn oftensive against the . Poles. The reports from the front show | that the Polish Ukranian forces are | advancing along -the line. In Polesia the | Poles smashed the Fourth Bolsheviki Ar- ' my, the reports state, taking 3,000 pris- | oners including all the staff officers with . the exception of the Commander-in-Chief - and wresting Pinsk from the Soviet for- ' ces.
