aks) THE BOARD OF OVERSEERS (Board of Trustees Meeting, July 11, 1971) eeeThe President reviewed with the Board a memorandum on the subject of the Board of Overseers sent to them earlier at their request. The memorandum made the point that the Board of Overseers was already a large body which could not easily be made larger without becoming unwieldy. The memorandum also under- scored the need for the inclusion of new members in place of members who have not been very active in support of the College's interestsSeceoe After discussion it was apparent that there was some unreadiness on the part of members of the Board of Trustees to move too rapidly with this matter, the feeling being expressed that some of the Overseers who were seen to have been less than active may not have been given sufficient opportunities to prove their interest, together with a feeling that it was impor-— tant to rotate members off of the Board of Overseers to make room for new members in a deliberate manner which would cause as few complications as possible. aks) THE BOARD OF OVERSEERS (Board of Trustees Meeting, July 11, 1971) eeeThe President reviewed with the Board a memorandum on the subject of the Board of Overseers sent to them earlier at their request. Dr. Wallace then suggested a plan which the Board adopted as a useful method of moving ahead. The plan involves the choice by the Chairman of two or three members of the Board of Trustees to work with the President in further considering the question of those members who will be rotated off the Board and those ob nominees who will be asked to serve in their stead. Having reached a determination, this group is then to work within a system of staggered terms of office. In this way those members who are to be rotated off of the Board can be given one-year reappointments with the concurrent advice that the appointments will not be renewed, at least for a period of time.
