ACTNO. 8517 BILL NO. 34-0099 THIRTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2021 An Act amending title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 25, sections 530 (g) and chapter 27, section 705(c), changing the mandatory retirement age of police officers, firefighters, and correction officers from 55 to 65 Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: by: SECTION 1. Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 25, section 530, subsection (g) is amended (1) Striking “policeman”, “fireman” and “prison guard” and inserting “police officer”, “firefighter” and “corrections officer” in their place; (2) Striking “55” and inserting “65”; and (3) Striking the phrase, “until he attains the age of 60 years” and inserting after “position” the phrase, “after the employee attains the age of 55”.
