METEOR STRUCK WEST VIRGINIA Reports tell of a flaming® meteor, more than six feet in diameter and weighing several tons, which hit the earth at How- esville, W. Va., a short time ago. The resulting explosion shattered windows in houses five miles distant. An auto near where the astral visitor landed was de- molished and the persons in it were daz- ed. —The Pathfinde , sth March. MASTONON SKELETON FOUND Dr. Gidley, of the Smithsonian Institu- tion, with a party of other scientists re- ce itly discovered the skeleton of a mas- todon near Benson, Ariz., which was much smaller than the average,it is said. The remains of a sea turtle about seven feet long also was uncovered near the beones of the mastodon.—lbid. : BRITISH ISLES KILL 13 OF RE- PUBLICAN ARMY.
