ACT NO.65 35 BILL NO. 24-0257 TWENTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 2002 To amend title 1, chapter 11, Virgin Islands Code, to designate the first week in the month of June as “Virgin Islands Child’s Week” ---0--- WHEREAS, each child is unique, is a blessing and holds a distinct place in the family unit; and WHEREAS, the people of the Virgin Islands should celebrate children as the most valuable asset of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the children represent the future, hope, and inspiration of the Virgin Islands; and WHEREAS, the children of the Virgin Islands should be allowed to feel that their ideas and dreams will be respected, because adults in the Virgin Islands take time to listen; and WHEREAS, many children in the Virgin Islands face crisis of grave proportions, especially as they enter adolescent years; and WHEREAS, it is important for parents to spend time listening to their children on a daily basis; and WHEREAS, it is important for both parents to be involved in their children’s jives; and 2 WHEREAS, encouragement should be …
