COMMITTEE ON BUDGET, APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE BILL NO. 36-0042 Thirty-Sixth Legislature of the Virgin Islands February 27, 2025 An Act amending title 33 Virgin Islands Code subtitle 3, chapter 118, section 3411 to increase the maximum judgement amount for the award of damages against the Government of the Virgin Islands PROPOSED BY: Senator Alma Francis Heyliger Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. Title 33 Virgin Islands Code, subtitle 3, chapter 118, section 3411, 2 subsection (c) is amended by striking “$25,000” and inserting “$150,000”. 3 BILL SUMMARY 4 This bill amends title 33 Virgin Islands Code, subtitle 3, chapter 118, section 3411, 5 subsection (c) to increase the amount of money that a claimant can recover from the 6 Government of the Virgin Islands. 7 BR25-0457/February 26, 2025/AA 8
