TO THE USVI FROM UNITED STATES & FOREIGN REGIONS SELECTED IMPORTS REVIEW Reference: www.usviber.org/ Censustradedata.com 2024 JANUARY TO DECEMBER All data in the report are produced by the Census Bureau and are compiled by the Bureau of Economic Research. In 2024, there were significant decreases in the value of imported goods across four selected categories. All items in the Industrial Imports category experienced a decline, resulting in an overall reduction of 14.7%. This decline was primarily driven by a substantial 77.0% drop in crude petroleum imports, which includes gasoline (down 15%) and propane (down 8.1%). The downturn in this category can largely be attributed to a 62% reduction in the U.S. benchmark Henry Hub natural gas price in 2023. Other notable decreases in this category included a 44.9% reduction in Portland cement imports. Similarly, Tourist imports decreased by 5.2%, highlighted by a 68.5% fall in Cameras and a 42.1% reduction in Watches. In Apparel, Handbag imports (69.0%), Baby Garments (25.8%), and Fabric (39.5%) imports decreased. …
