Monday, March 13, 2006 The following is the text of the voice message from UVI President Dr. LaVerne E. Ragster to UVI faculty and staff on Monday, March 13, 2006. Charter Day 2006 Greetings Trustees Accept Strategic Plan 2000-2005 Close Out Report; Approve VISION 2012 Greetings! This is President Ragster. It is an honor and a great pleasure to begin our 44th Charter Week announcing that the Board of Trustees accepted the Close Out Report of the Strategic Plan 2000-2005 and acknowledged the achievements and efforts of the University community. I take this moment to express my sincere gratitude to all of the faculty and staff of the University for their contributions to our significant achievements over the last five years. Congratulations to all on a job well done. In addition, the Board unanimously approved Strategic Plan 2006-2012, also known as VISION 2012: Transforming Our Future. The vision, mission, core values and strategic goals and objectives of VISION 2012 reflect your contributions and ideas during this past year of collaboration on the development of the strategic plan. Thank you. I extend a special note of appreciation to Dr. Deborah Fontaine for her leadership and stewardship of the process of implementing Strategic Plan 2000-2005, and the process that led to the development of VISION 2012. As we celebrate our 44th year of serving the higher education needs of the Territory, we have much to be proud about. Thank you for being a part of the wonderful institution that is the University of the Virgin Islands. I look forward to seeing you at many of the activities planned for this week.
