November 3 US VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has issued a series of proclamations designating November 2025 as a month of recognition, awareness, and action across the U.S. Virgin Islands. These observances highlight the Territory’s commitment to education, health, public service, cultural heritage, and community support. Month-Long Observances David Hamilton Jackson Month Honoring the legacy of David Hamilton Jackson—labor leader, educator, journalist, and champion of civil rights—Governor Bryan proclaimed November as David Hamilton Jackson Month . Jackson’s leadership and advocacy ushered in critical social and economic reforms that uplifted Virgin Islanders and advanced press freedom and workers’ rights. National Adoption Month Recognizing the Department of Human Services and the families who provide safe, loving homes for children in foster care or out-of-home placements, Governor Bryan proclaimed November as National Adoption Month in the Territory. National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month Governor Bryan has proclaimed November as National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month , calling on the community to support individuals living with Alzheimer’s and caregivers who provide essential care until a cure is found. National Diabetes Month To support awareness, testing, and education related to diabetes—one of the nation’s leading causes of death—the Governor designated November as National Diabetes Month . National Entrepreneurship Month In celebration of business owners who drive innovation, build jobs, and strengthen the economy, the Governor has proclaimed November as National Entrepreneurship Month . National Family Caregivers Month Honoring millions of caregivers—both locally and nationwide—who provide uncompensated, compassionate care for loved ones, Governor Bryan recognized November as National Family Caregivers Month . Military Families Month In appreciation for the sacrifice and strength of military families who support service members and veterans, the Governor proclaimed November as Military Families Month . Virgin Islands Recycles Month To promote waste reduction, recycling, and environmental stewardship, the Governor proclaimed November as Virgin Islands Recycles Month , continuing VI Waste Management Authority’s participation in America Recycles Day initiatives. Week-Long Observances American Education Week (November 17 – 21, 2025) Governor Bryan proclaimed American Education Week , encouraging Virgin Islanders to celebrate public education, recognize achievements, support school needs, and honor educators, staff, and advocates who shape the Territory’s youth. National Nurse Practitioner Week (November 9 – 15, 2025) Highlighting the vital role of nurse practitioners and expanded access to care, the Governor declared National Nurse Practitioner Week in the USVI. Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (November 16 – 22, 2025) To bring attention to the growing challenges of hunger and homelessness, the Governor proclaimed Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week , supporting efforts by the Interagency Council on Homelessness and Continuum of Care partners. Day-Specific Observances David Hamilton Jackson (Liberty) Day (November 1, 2025) In conjunction with David Hamilton Jackson Month , the Governor proclaimed November 1 as David Hamilton Jackson Day honoring Jackson’s historical fight for freedom and workers’ rights. Veterans Day (November 11, 2025) The Governor proclaimed November 11 as Veterans Day , recognizing the courage and sacrifice of the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Meatless Day (November 25, 2025) In support of the vegetarian advocacy initiated by Dada J.P. Vaswani, Governor Bryan proclaimed November 25 as Meatless Day , encouraging residents to adopt a plant-based diet for health and compassion toward animals. Palestinian-Virgin Islands Friendship Day (November 29, 2025) Recognizing enduring cultural and business contributions of Virgin Islanders of Palestinian heritage, the Governor proclaimed November 29 as Palestinian-Virgin Islands Friendship Day . Additional Multi-Period Recognition Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month (November 20 – December 20, 2025) Governor Bryan extended recognition to families and communities affected by violence, proclaiming Survivors of Homicide Victims Awareness Month to encourage advocacy, conflict resolution, and policies that prevent violence and honor victims’ memories.
