ACTNO. 69195 BILL NO. 27-0037 TWENTY-SEVENTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2007 An Act honoring Fred Thomas for his contributions to the musical heritage of the Virgin Islands, naming Queens Street, Christiansted, St. Croix in his honor and making an appropriation ---0--- WHEREAS, Mr. Winfred Thomas, better known as “Fred Thomas”, was born on April 27, 1932, to Egbert and Pearl Thomas; and WHEREAS, he was born in his parents’ home in Kingshill, St. Croix and is the third of seven children; and WHEREAS, he attended catholic school in Christiansted, St. Croix; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas grew up on St. Croix at a time when there were no televisions, only radio and crank-up phonoscopes; and WHEREAS, Hugo, the eldest of Egbert Thomas’ children, taught Mr. Thomas how to play the guitar; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas also learned to play the piano and percussion instruments; and WHEREAS, Mr. Thomas played music with his brother’s band, and also played occasionally with the La Motta Brothers, Wesley and Archie Thomas, and Milo and the Five Kings of St. …
