S. “‘Grebe’”’ madea flying trip to this town at 6.00 p. m. yesterday took in some passengers and returned to St. Thomas immediately. The s. s. Bridgetown from New York via St. Thomas arrived at 5.00 p. m. and sailed for the Leeward Islands this morn- inz. She brought only a few letters as far as mail is concerned, and carrvied mail for nearly ail the islanda. For drawing a knife azainst Mr. Cor- ne ias Pentnenv, Arihur Wilson of this town was fined $lO and sentenced to 30 davs in jaill. Mr. Pantheny was fined $2 0J for haviagz steuck Wilson. Charged with stealing a bag of suzar from the St. Croix Sucar Factory, a man was brought to the Police Court vester- day and vequired to prove that he had not stolen the sucar. The representa- tive of the faciory could not prove he had | stelen it, but elaimed the sugar to be their stock., The man was sentenced to pay a fine of 10 itis reported. PERSONAL. Radio from the U. 8 8. ‘Reuben James’’ stationed at Norfolk, Virgenia, to the Merwin family here has brought the glad news of the birth of a sown 82 lhs., to Ensign and Mrs. John H. Schuliz named John Merwin Schultz, both mother and infant doing wvell. Mrs. Schal*z is a daughter of Hon. and Mrs. Robht, L. Merwin of Frederikstsd and we beg to offerour congratulations £ our con- cerrved. Lawyer and Mrs A. E. Stakemann and daughter sail toworrow via Porto Rico for Denmark where they will spend tive months vacation. We wish them an en- jovable passage to the old country and trust they will spend a nice time and le- turn much beneditted by the trip. Mr. Leonard Plaskett, son of the late pilot J. T. Principal Carlisle of the Peters Rest Rural School sent in a bag cf cabbages to be sold from the school garden this week, The cabbage is of fine q ality despite the littleness of thie heads which were asserted by the dry weather. The school luneh is still being carried on in the country schkools. DbMiss Luey Gillette, Field Representative of the American Red Cress for the Virein Is- lands, states that she feels the Red Crass will be able to furnish the lunch for the pupils until the end of the term. The school lunech is firanced entirely by funds from the Red Cross. The Red Cross gives on an average of {rom $20.00 to 224,00 per week to the Department of Edueation for the purpose of purchaslng supplies for these lunches. The Depart- ment purchases white beans, split peas, sugar, flour, corn meal, salt and salted meat and distributes the supplies every Monday morning to the La Princesse, La Vallee, Friedensfeld, Diamond and Petérs Rest Rural Schools.
