ACT NO. 7144 BILL NO. 28-0142 TWENTY-EIGHT LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2009 An Act amending 3 V.L.C., section 530(a) as it relates to wrongfully discharged government employees ---0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, §530(a), is amended in the following instances: (a) The first sentence is amended: qd) by striking all of the language after “1977” and inserting new language that reads: “before a head officer of an executive department, agency or instrumentality of the Government dismisses, demotes or suspends a regular employee of a department, agency or instrumentality of the Government, the head officer shall furnish the employee with a written statement of the charges against the employee.” (2) The third sentence is amended by striking “the department head, the agency head or the chief executive officer, as the case may be”, and inserting “head officer”; (3) Subsection (a) is further amended by designating the existing language as paragraph (1) and adding paragraph (2) to read as follows: As used …
