The Story. , Van D’Arcy ‘maintains a private theatre for the perfo mance of his own plays; being a bachelor his many sins are forgiven him becauseof his money. “Toni”” Wylde, society debutante, had been cast in the leading role in Van’s new play because she was a new sensation to him, while the unhappy woman who had “Inspired’’ his last play’’, at that moment was paying the piper. A more malicious motive had cast self-conscious Samuel Dodge (a wonder in the business world but a missfit in society) as the clown. What wonder that inexperienced ‘‘Toni’’, singied out for special attention by the most sought after bachelor had lost her heart to him while th~ "‘unhapnv’’ woman still believed that **he’””DID love her and asked HER husband t¢ .ve her :edom. When “‘Toni’’ discovered that she was also ‘‘only’’to ‘‘inspire’’ she decides to revenge h=rseif and as Van prefers married women because they were so easy to get rid of, she gets over-night married to Samuel Dodge and start to take her revenge. AT one o’cloeck p. m., Monday, May 17, 1920, the Colonial Council of St. Croix held an extraordinary meeting at the Colonial Councili Hall in Christian- sted convened by request of Government. The following members were present: The Acting Chairman (Merwin), F. Coul- ter, A. J. Blackwood, F. Lunney, K. Hendersen, M. M. Sheoch, D. Noll, W. H. MacKay, W. S. Abramson, G. Nord- by, D. C. Canegata, G. B. Fleming and Thos. Ramsay. Despatening Secretary (Commander Colby) attended the meeting. The Acting [Chairman [Merwin] asked 2nd Member tor Christiansted Town (Canegata) to act as Secretary to the Council until the Officials of the Council are elected. After prayers had been said the Acty: Chairman remarked: Honorable Mem- bers the minutes of the last meeting have been published as customary in the ‘‘St. Croix Avis’’ and if members have no objections I will consider same tacitly adopted. There being no objection the Actg. Chairman declared the minutes:s pub lished tacitly adopted. The Actg. Chairman further remark- ed: I have received no notifications from absent members of their :nability to at- tend the meeting. Election of a Chairman. 12 voting tickets were handed in, one was blank 2nd Membher for Frederiksted Town (Merwin) was elected with 11 votes. The Chairman (Merwin) took the chair and thanked the members for re- electing him chairman of the Cg?mcil for another year and expressed the hope that he would be able to conduct the meetings satisfactorily. ) 3rd Member tcr Christiansted Country Distriet (Robt. W. Skeoch) entered the meeting. Election of a Viece-Chairman. 14 voting tickets were handed in and Ist Member for Frederiksted Town (Coulter) was elected with 9 votes. 2nd Appointed Member (Noll), 2nd Member for Christiansted Couutry Dis- trict (Mac Kay), bth Appointed Member {Lunney], 2nd Member for Christiansted Town [Canegata] and 2nd Member for Frederiksted Country District [M. M. for an extraordinary Meeting of the Colonial Coufcil for St. Croix, TUESDAY, May 25, 1920, at one : o’clock p. m. [Convened by request of Government.] 1. Colomial - (nuneil Office, -St. Croix. May 18th, 1920. ROBT. L. MERWIN, Chairman. Skeoeh| received one vote respectively. Election of a Secretary. 15 voting tickets were handed in and 2nd Member for Christiansted Town [Canegata] was elected with 14 votes; 2nd Member for Christiansted Country District [Mac Kay] received one vote. Election of an Assistant Secretary. 15 voting tickets were handed in, one was invalid. Ist Member tor Frederiksied Country District J{Andersen] reccived 6 votes; 2nd Member for Christiansted Country District [Mac Kay] received 5 votes, and 3rd Me :.ber for said District [R. W. Skeoch] received 8 votes. As none had absolute majority vote a new voting had to take place. 15 voting tickets were hande'' in and 2nd Member for Christiansted Country District (Mac Kay) was elected with 8 votes. Ist Member for Frederiksted Country Distiier [Andersen] received 4 votes, 3rd Member for Christiansted Country Dis- trict (R. W. Skeoch) received 2votes and 3rd Appointed (Armstrong) received one vote. : Item 2. Election of M2mbers of the Munici- pal Committee and Substitutes. The election took place in this manner: Two-names were written on the tickets.
