ACTNO. 8461 BILL NO. 34-0032 THIRTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2021 An Act amending title 14 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 24, section 505 relating to child abuse to require a person who abuses a child to seek counseling; and for other related purposes o=-0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 14 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 24, section 505 is amended by designating the existing provisions as subsection (a) and adding subsections (b), (c), (d), (e), and (f) to read as follows: “(b) In addition to a term of imprisonment or fine, a court shall require the person to attend counseling in accordance with any terms and conditions as the court may specify. Counseling mandated under this subsection must include abuse and assault intervention programs. In addition, if the convicted person is the parent of the affected child, the convicted person shall also attend parenting classes. …
