December 18 December 18, 2020 | 12:34 PM AST US VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. issued the following statement Friday on the passing of former Virgin Islands senator, and businessman Robert “Bob” O’ Connor: “It is with great sadness and a deep sense of loss that Yolanda and I share our condolences with the family, friends, and all in the Virgin Islands community who mourn the loss of Robert “Bob” O’Connor Jr. “Many remember Bob as a former at-large senator who was a tireless advocate for the advancement of local St. Johnians and the St. John and greater Virgin Islands community. He was also well known for his business acumen and notable public-service contributions as a onetime chairman and long-serving member of the Virgin Islands Port Authority Board, where he led and oversaw improvements to the territory’s port infrastructure. Others know him as the namesake of the Virgin Islands Port Authority’s Maintenance Building at the Cyril E. King Airport, which was named in his honor in 2020. But I was privileged to know him as an advisor and close friend. I valued his insights and his sage advice and will hold close to my heart our last conversation just days before his passing.” “Yolanda and I extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends, especially to his wife, Clarice Commissiong-O’Connor; daughters Jarell, Frenchesca and Franchellis O’Connor; grandson Robert and all in the community who mourn his passing.” ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
