AT one o’clock p. m., Saturday, April | 2, 1921, the Colonial Council of St. ! Croix held an exiraordinary meeting in the Council Hall in Christiansted. The following members were present: The Chairman (Merwin). F. Coulter, D. S. Armstrong, D. Noll, G. Nordby, G. B. Fleming, F. Lunney, Robt. W. Skeoch, A. J. Blacg))[vood,"w. S. Abram- ! son, F. Andersen, M. M. Skeoch and D. C. Canegata. : ’ The following members were ahsent: | 3rd Member for Christiansted Town | (Pentheny) Ist. Appointed Member (Hen- | dersen), 2nd Member for Christiansted | Country District (MacKay and 4th | Member for Christiansted Country Dis- | triet (Ramsay). In the printed report of the pro- ceedings I find that I am credited as say- ing that ‘‘The Directcr of Police is not responsible for the acts of the Police ete.”’, I ask that this remark be expong- . ed from the record, asJ did not make | that statement. i | Member Andersen remarked: I am ' quoted as having said that' the cost of maintenance for a concrete road is about one Tuousand Dollars per-mile per year. [ request that this be corrected to read one Hundred Dollars for a con- crete road and about one Thousand Dol- lars for a macadamized road. It was put to the vote and carried that the remark be exponged from the re- cord There being no further objection the minutes were tacitly adopted. The Chairman then made the follow- ing remarks: Since the last meeting of the Council I have received no eommuni- cations from Governmcnt to read to tne Council. I have received a letter from 2nd Mem- ber for Christiansted Country District (Mac Kay) reading: “‘Estate Concordia, 31, March, 1921. Robt. L. Merwin, Esq., Chairman of the Colonial Council, St. Croix. Sir: As Ifind it abso- lutely impossible to attend to my duties of the Colonial Jouncil, I beg to tender my resignation as 2ny! Member for Christiansted Countr District, which I beg the Council to accept. Resgectfully. H. MACKAY”. The Chairman remarked: This matter will be discussed after tke Order of the Day is disposed of. The Chairman further remarked: I have received today the following tele- gram from Bornn Agents Barber Asphalt Paving Company reading: “Merwin, Chairman, Coionial Council, Christiansted. Sending you next mail particulars superiority Asphalt roads over cement. St. Thomas.
