A,’C one o'cloeck p. m., Monday, June 2 141920, the Colonial Council of St. Croix held its first ordinary meeting for the present elective period, Second Council, Second Session, 1920-21, at the Council Hall in Christiansted. The members present were: The Chairman (Robt. L. Merwin), Robt. W. Skeoch, F. Lunney, D. S. Armstrong, A E. Stakemann, F. Andersen, D. Noll, G. Nordby, F. Coulter, A. J. Blackwood, W S Abhramson and M. M. Skeoch. 4th Member for Frederiksted Coun- try District (Fleming) sent in excuse of his inability to attend the meeting. Fur- thermore were absent, 3rd Member for Christiansted Town (Pentheny and 2nd Member for Christiansted Country Dis- s triet (MacKay The Chairman remarked: 2nd Mem- ber for Christiansted Town | Canegata] had notified me that he couid nat be present at the opening of the meeting but that he would be later. : The Secretary to the Council being absent the Chairman asked 3rd Member for Christiansted Country District (Robt. W. Skeoch) to act as Secretary to the Council. His Excelleney the Governor Admiral Oman and Despatching Secretary Com- mander Colby attended the meefing. After prayers had been said the Chair- man remarked: Honorable Members the minutes for the last meeting have been publisheg in the ‘‘St. Croix Avis’’ as cus- tomary and if members have no objec- tion same would be considered tacitly adopted. There being no objection the Chair- man declared the minutes as published tacitly adopted. , The Chairman further ramarked: Since the last meeting of the Council I have received no communications from Gov- ernment to read to the Council, but pre- vious to the last meeting I had received a letter which I will read to you. The Chairman read the letter and which is as follows: May 17, 1920. 1. In accordance with Ordinance of 20th September 1911, pre:eribing mea- sures against diseasesin the cotton plant, you are requested to have the above commission appointed by the Cnlonial Counecil for the Municipality of St. Croix at its first ordinary meeting, pursuant to paragraph 1 of saig Ordinance. The ordinary meéetings for the fiscal year were fixed as follows: Monday, June 16, Monday, August 18, Monday, October 20, Monday, [lecember 15, 1919, Monday, February 16, and Monday. April 20, 1920. TRhere were 8 extra- ordinary meetings. 14 meetings in all. The first Session oof the Elective period was opened on June 16, 1920. The following Ordinances, Resolutions and Bills were introduced and disposed of in the course of the elective period. 1. Colonial Counci! Bill No. 1. Dreaft of an Ordinance, infroduced by 2nd Appointed Member (Noll) to better provide for the recording of Vital Statisticss in the Municipality of St. Croix and for other purposes. Adopted June 16, 1919. Approved by the Governor June 24, 1918 9. (Colonial Council Bill No. 2. Resolution introduced by Govern- ment granting Fres. 50,000.00 from the St. Croix Reserve Fund to be expended for the permanent repairs to roads in St. Croix. 5. Resolution.—That the name ‘'Saint Croix’’ is the official name of this island and the name ‘‘Municipalityof St. Croix’’ shall hereafter be used in officially designating this Municipal- ity.
