Potter Advises Public of Online Payments for Property Tax Lieutenant Governor Osbert E. Potter would like to inform the public that property owners can now pay their property tax bills online for ALL tax years. Customers interested in paying their property tax bills online can go to https://propertytax.vi.gov/ to do so. Payment plan payments must still be made offline through the Lieutenant Governor’s Office. Benefits of the New Property Tax Payment Online System:  A property tax payment is similar to ordering a purchase online. Online payment is free and secure. There is no need to worry about a check being lost or delayed in the mail; payment is processed via a secure web site.  A receipt confirmation is emailed to the customer. Customers can also view and print a detailed receipt from propertytax.vi.gov. immediately after payment.  Customers can view details about an individual account, including parcel details, tax credits, and tax credit expirations.  Payments can be made at any time 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world.  Property owners can ensure that a payment is received before a discount expires without waiting in lines or worrying about getting a payment lost in the mail.  In most cases, online payment is instant. As soon as a payment has been successfully processed, customers see the account balance change to 0.00 from the parcel search.  If the customer has an escrow account with a local bank, they should allow the bank to make the payment for them. Customers with mortgages and escrow accounts with banks will still benefit from the discount when the payment is received from the bank by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.  Customers can make full online payments on all accounts and parcels that are past due and on which partial payments have yet to be made.
