Kingston, Jamaica, Mav 26th.—The following resolution was unanimously adopted at a joint meeting of the mem- bers of the Jamaica lmoorial Association and th2 Jamaica Chamber of Conmerce and Merchants Exchange yesterday. ““That this meeting while recognizing the-desire of the Canadian Government to modify its actions in conaection with the repeal of the dumping clause by re- instating same to the extent of three quacter cent per pound, desires to point out that any alteration in the dumping clause is apparently inconsistent with the terms of the West Indies trade agre_- ment 1921. It urges that tnere should be a reconsideration of thne Duten stand- ard test so that the duty on all sugars {rom the British West Indies and British (iuiana should be assessed not on a col- oar test buc on a polariscopie test, thus allowing British sugars fit for direct con- sumption to enter the Canadian market and enjoy preference without special re- strictions. It emphasizes the ract that the maintenance of the Dutch Standard colour test in connection with all sugars other than those entitled to preference under the West Indies trade azreement 1921, wili afford protection to refiners without intertering with the growth of trade relations between the British colo- nies referred to and the dominion of Can- ada. That a committee consisting of Hon. Horace V Myers (Chairman) Hon J. H. Phiilips, Messrs A. M. Henderson, P A Bovel, William Gamble, J B Stiven, W. B.
