Gibbs Fire Station Reconstruction and Safe Room Projects (Project No. 85505, HMGP 4340-0124) located at 1 Cotton Valley, Christiansted, St. Croix. The fire station sustained damage during Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and FEMA has approved funding for the demolition and reconstruction of the station as well as the construction of an internal safe room. …

Gibbs Fire Station Reconstruction and Safe Room Projects (Project No. 85505, HMGP 4340-0124) located at 1 Cotton Valley, Christiansted, St. Croix. The fire station sustained damage during Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and FEMA has approved funding for the demolition and reconstruction of the station as well as the construction of an internal safe room. To maintain a strategic location for response on the eastern end of the island, VIFEMS intends to remain in the existing station until the new facility has been constructed. Once the new station is completed, the existing station will be demolished. The proposed activity is consistent to the maximum extent practicable with the Virgin Islands Coastal Zone Management Program and will be conducted in a manner consistent with such program. VIFEMS therefore requests a Consistency Determination. Attached is a detailed report, which demonstrates the project’s compliance with the Coastal Zone Management Program.
