Hurricane season preparations should include a review of your insurance coverage and insurance related records. Get a head start on your hurricane preparedness by taking inventory of your personal property. Use this convenient list as a guide to inventory your home’s contents for insurance purposes. Carefully photograph or videotape each item and document a brief description, including age, purchase price and estimated current value. Your inventory should include items such as furniture, electronics, jewelry, collectibles, clothing, home furnishings, appliances and tools. Categorize the items by room to make the inventory process easier. Store your home inventory and other important documents in a waterproof container. Also consider sharing a copy with friends, relatives and your insurance provider.
