February 20 US VIRGIN ISLANDS — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. will be out of the territory this week, traveling to Washington, D.C., for a series of important meetings. He is expected to return on Tuesday, February 27. Among his engagements, Governor Bryan will attend the annual meeting of the Department of Interior’s Interagency Group on Insular Areas (IGIA) and the winter meeting of the National Governors Association (NGA). At the NGA’s annual meeting, Governor Bryan, alongside his co-chair on the NGA’s task force on Education, Workforce, and Community Investment, Idaho Governor Brad Little, will lead a discussion on the comprehensive Farm Bill priorities released by the NGA in September 2023. The Education, Workforce, and Community Investment Task Force, chaired by Governor Bryan and Governor Little, oversees various critical issues, including labor and workforce development, career and technical skills, PreK-12 education, postsecondary education, criminal justice, housing, and agriculture. During his time in Washington, Governor Bryan will also meet with State Department officials to advance plans addressing key priorities, including a special visa waiver program to tackle workforce shortages in the territory and meet the recovery-related workforce demands. Furthermore, discussions will ensue regarding the territory’s potential participation in CARICOM. Lieutenant Governor Tregenza A. Roach Esq. will serve as acting governor until Governor Bryan’s return on Tuesday, February 27. The Bryan-Roach Administration is investing in the Territory’s people, infrastructure and future through transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible.
