UVI Board of Trustees Goals for FY 2013-2014 1. Create a mechanism for presentations by internal stakeholders at the University (e.g., students, faculty, and staff) to the Board at meetings of its standing committees in order to increase trustees' knowledge of the institution, its programs, research, and community service. 2. Have a progress report on the Strategic Plan 2017 presented at each board meeting. (Planning Committee) 3. Review the scope of duties and name of the Committee on Trustees. (Committee on Trustees) 4. Help find ways to resolve the financial challenges of the University. 5. Update policies of the Board, such as the policy on the naming of buildings. 6. Assess whether a change in the term of the trustees elected by the students and faculty should be recommended to the Legislature and research what is best practice on representation of institutions' staff on the boards of public colleges and universities. 7. UVI Board of Trustees Goals for FY 2013-2014 1. Assess the performance of individual trustees. Guidance for All Trustees Any Trustee who is presented, by a person inside or outside the university, with any University-related matter for investigation or other action is advised to bring the matter to the attention of the President of the University for proper response. Any member of a committee of the Board who wants a document or information deemed important to perform his/her duty as a member of that committee is advised to communicate a request for that document/information to the chair of the committee.
