March 21 U.S. Virgin Islands — Governor Albert Bryan Jr. brought more than a listening ear to the Adrian Senior Center on Thursday, March 20—he brought lunch. In a heartfelt gesture of community and connection, Governor Bryan spent the afternoon cooking and sharing a home-cooked meal with senior citizens in St. John. He used the opportunity to hear directly from them about the challenges they face each day. Joining the Governor for the lunch gathering were Department of Human Services Commissioner Averil George and St. John Administrator Shikima Jones-Sprauve. Both officials engaged with the seniors and reaffirmed the Administration’s commitment to improving services for St. John’s aging residents. During the informal lunch meeting, the Governor spoke with the elders of the St. John community, who raised concerns about several issues. One of the key topics was the need for improved public transportation—specifically reliable and accessible VITRAN service to the Loredon Lorence Boynes Sr. Ferry Dock in Cruz Bay. Governor Bryan assured the seniors that their concerns are already being addressed. He explained that the Department of Public Works has begun acquiring smaller VITRAN buses that can better navigate the narrow and congested streets of downtown Cruz Bay, where larger buses struggle to operate. This shift will help improve access to key locations on the island, especially for seniors and those with limited mobility. Reflecting on his personal connection to the issue, Governor Bryan shared, “Growing up in Savan with my grandmother, I learned the value of our elders early. Seniors are one of the two important bookends of our Virgin Islands story and experience—they hold our history, our wisdom, and our culture. We have a responsibility to do everything we can to ensure they enjoy the best quality of life possible. That includes making sure public transportation works for them, not against them.” The Governor’s visit to the Adrian Senior Center reflects leadership grounded in humility, respect, and genuine service. His decision to personally prepare and serve the meal illustrates his belief in meeting people where they are—sharing not just food, but conversation, trust, and solutions. The Bryan-Roach Administration remains focused on delivering practical, people-first improvements guided by community input. Thursday’s visit on St. John is one more example of the Governor’s commitment to listening, responding, and taking meaningful action. ### TAGS No tags CATEGORIES Uncategorized Previous Next Comments are closed © 2026 Government of the United States Virgin Islands.
