COMMITTEE ON BUDGET, APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE BILL NO. 35-0056 Thirty-Fifth Legislature of the Virgin Islands March 24, 2023 An Act amending title 21, chapter 1, section 16 (3) of the Virgin Islands Code, relating to increasing the amount of funding that can be offered to veterans for mortgages under the Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority home loans program PROPOSED BY: Senators Diane T. Capehart and Alma Francis Heyliger Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: 1 SECTION 1. (a) Title 21, chapter 1, section 16 (3) of the Virgin Islands Code is 2 amended by striking “$220,000” and inserting “$350,000” wherever it occurs. 3 (b) This Act is effective 120 days after enactment. 4 BILL SUMMARY 5 This bill amends title 21, chapter 1, section 16 (3) of the Virgin Islands Code, relating to 6 increasing the amount of funding that can be offered to veterans for mortgages under the Virgin 7 Islands Housing Finance Authority home loans program from $220,000 to $350,000. 8 BR23-0179/January 31, 2023/HLF 9
