The CGL collection was initially established with the donation of the private genealogy li- brary of Elisabeth Swinson Sharp. Mrs. Sharp, who was also instrumental in founding the Im- migrant Genealogy Library in Burbank, CA, a nationally recognized resource for German im- migrant research materials, was raised on St. Thomas where her father once served as Rector of All Saints Cathedral [Anglican/Episcopal] and Archdeacon of the Diocese. CGL is the only known library in the Carib- bean devoted entirely to genealogical research. Although a good portion of the donated collec- tion pertains to American and European geneal- ogy, Caribbean materials and resources are be- ing identified and aggressively acquired to better fulfill CGL‘s mission. Located in Al Cohen’s Plaza on Raphune Hill, next door to Mango Tango Art Gallery, CGL is open during posted hours to the general public for a $5.00 per visit donation, and to CGL members for free. All CGL activities are carried out by its dedicated member volunteers. CARIBBEAN GENEALOGY LIBRARY P.O. BOX 366 ST.
