ACTNO. 8507 BILL NO. 34-0062 THIRTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2021 An Act amending title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 5, section 65a relating to filling vacancies on boards and commissions by adding subsection (g) to require memberships on boards and commissions to be gender balanced ---0--- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 3 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 5, section 65a is amended by adding subsection (g) to read as follows: “(g) The Governor or other appointing authority shall make a good-faith effort to ensure that the membership, except the ex-officio membership, of each appointive board or commission is gender balanced and reflects the gender diversity of the Territory to the extent feasible and to the extent that appointees are qualified to serve on the boards and commissions. If there are multiple appointing authorities for a board or commission, the appointing authorities shall consult in order to comply with this subsection.” Thus passed by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands on November 18, 2021. …
