March 25 U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS – Government House Communications Director Richard Motta provided an overview of Governor Albert Bryan Jr.’s travel this week and announced upcoming VI Slice program town halls during Monday’s weekly briefing from Government House on St. Croix. Governor Bryan is out of the territory on an official visit to Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Motta said. During the Governor’s absence, Lt. Governor Tregenza Roach is the Acting Governor. Motta said Governor Bryan’s trip underscores the administration’s commitment to fostering stronger ties and collaborative efforts across key sectors in the Caribbean region that are crucial for the Territory’s shared growth and development. In Barbados, Governor Bryan will explore avenues for collaboration in education and sustainable development. He is scheduled to visit Ross University and will tour the Rock Hard Cement Plant and local construction projects to learn about Barbados’ sustainable construction practices. Following his time in Barbados, Governor Bryan will meet with Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He will also visit agricultural and fisheries sites to gather insights into boosting the Territory’s food security and growth. Meetings with Ministers of Finance, Tourism, and Economic Development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines will further explore opportunities for mutual economic growth and development. “Governor Bryan’s visit is a proactive step towards enhancing our regional engagement and building beneficial partnerships. We anticipate this trip will lead to strengthened relationships and new initiatives that will positively impact the Virgin Islands and our neighbors,” Motta said. In other news, Motta announced the upcoming series of town hall meetings hosted by the USVI Economic Development Authority (USVIEDA) about the VI Slice Moderate-Income Homeownership Program, also known as VI Slice. The town hall meetings are an opportunity for residents to engage directly with the team at the EDA and VI Slice lenders, where questions will be answered and residents will learn how the program works, to see how it can bridge the homeownership gap. The VI Slice Town Hall Meetings will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on the following dates and in the following locations: March 25, 2024, at the University of the Virgin Islands, Great Hall in St. Croix. March 26, 2024, at Muse (on the Waterfront) in St. Thomas. March 27, 2024, at Da Event Lounge in St. John. Motta announced that in observance of the religious holidays, government offices will be closed on: Thursday, March 28th – Holy Thursday Friday, March 29th – Good Friday Monday, April 1st – Easter Monday In conclusion, Motta urged those who will be camping over the Easter holiday to be mindful of fire safety regulations, and dispose of all waste properly to ensure that beaches and recreational areas remain clean and pristine for everyone to enjoy. The Bryan-Roach Administration is investing in the Territory’s people, infrastructure, and future through transparency, stabilizing the economy, restoring trust in the government, and ensuring that recovery projects are completed as quickly as possible.
