ACT NO.6489 BILL NO. 24-0184 TWENTY-FOURTH LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS OF THE UNITED STATES Regular Session 2001 To honor Godparents for their role in providing spiritual faith and being the moral cornerstone for our Virgin Islands children and to amend title J, chapter 11, Virgin Islands Code, to establish “Godparents” Day” ---()--- WHEREAS, god parenting may be the least understood job in society; and WHEREAS, godparents must serve as responsible second parents in the image of father and mother and provide nurturing to our children, especially if a parent is unable or fails to do so; and WHEREAS, godparents are the conduits for spiritual education; and WHEREAS, godparents are charged with maintaining a vital interest in the spiritual life and home atmosphere of their godchildren; and WHEREAS, godparents are mentors and the first friend in faith; and WHEREAS, godparents must make a serious lifetime commitment to the spiritual growth of their godchildren; and WHEREAS, godparents are role models and must continually represent themselves as persons the children can emulate; and W …
