ACTNO. 8391 BILL NO. 33-0342 THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Regular Session 2020 An Act to amend Title 19 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 1, section 221 relating to new definitions that govern the chapter; title 19, chapter 16, relating to the duties of the members of the V.I. Government Hospitals Corporation and for other related purposes; title 33, chapter 111, section 3100b accordingly | Be it enacted by the Legislature of the Virgin Islands: SECTION 1. Title 19 Virgin Islands Code, chapter 15, section 221 is amended as follows: (a) Paragraph (5) is deleted in its entirety. (b) The following new definitions are inserted in the appropriate alphabetical order: (1) “Bad debt” means the unreimbursed cost to the Corporation of providing health care services on an inpatient or emergency department basis to a person who is financially unable to pay, in whole or in part, for the services rendered and whose account has been classified as bad debt based upon the Corporation’s bad debt policy. …
