March 11 ST. THOMAS, U.S. Virgin Islands – Governor Albert Bryan Jr. was pleased to participate today in the official kickoff meeting for Suffolk CBNA, the joint venture responsible for rebuilding six critical institutions on St. Thomas—five schools and one administrative building—as part of the Office of Disaster Recovery’s (ODR) Rebuild USVI initiative. Governor Bryan commended the active participation of local contractors who are already on board to support the successful execution of this project. He also acknowledged key government officials from agencies including the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA), the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR), the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE), and the Office of Disaster Recovery (ODR), whose collaborative efforts will ensure the efficient and timely completion of these long-awaited rebuilds. The meeting was led by Adrienne Williams-Octalien, Director of the Office of Disaster Recovery, who outlined the scope and timeline of the project. Also in attendance was Lieutenant Governor Tregenza Roach, who expressed his deep commitment to the children of the Virgin Islands and emphasized the importance of restoring and rebuilding the territory’s educational infrastructure. “This project marks a major milestone in our commitment to rebuilding the Virgin Islands stronger and better,” said Governor Bryan. “With the dedication of our local contractors, agency partners, and the leadership of the Office of Disaster Recovery, we are ensuring that our students and educators will have the facilities they deserve.” The St. Thomas school rebuilding initiative is part of ‘Bundle 2’ of the Rebuild USVI project, a multi-year effort to modernize and fortify public institutions across the territory. Groundbreaking for these schools is expected later this year, with construction continuing through 2027. The Bryan-Roach Administration remains steadfast in its mission to improve education and disaster recovery efforts in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and today’s kickoff meeting marks another step forward in that ongoing work.
