VIRGIN ISLANDS: OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR PHASE II RENOVATION AT 19A - 20 KONGENS GADE ST. THOMAS, U. S. VIRGIN ISLANDS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A, This Section includes toilet and bath accessory items as scheduled. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. General: Submit the following according to Conditions of Contract and Division | Specifications Sections. B. Product data for each toilet accessory item specified, including construction details relative to materials, dimensions, gages, profiles, mounting method, specified options, and finishes. Cc. Schedule indicating types, quantities, sizes, and installation locations (by room) for each toilet accessory item to be provided for project. D. Maintenance instructions including replaceable parts and service recommendations. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Inserts and Anchorages: Furnish accessory manufacturers’ standard inserts and anchoring devices that must be set in concrete or built into masonry. Coordinate delivery with other work to avoid delay. B. Single-Source Responsibility: Provide products of same manufacturer for each type of accessory unit and for units exposed to view in same areas, unless otherwise acceptable to Architect. 1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Coordination: Coordinate accessory locations, installation, and sequencing with other work to avoid interference with and ensure proper installation, operation, adjustment, cleaning, and servicing of toilet accessory items. 1.6 WARRANTY A. Warranty: Submit a written warranty executed by mirror manufacturer, agreeing to replace any mirrors that develop visible silver spoilage defects within warranty period. B. Warranty Period: 15 years from date of Substantial Completion. Cc. The warranty shall not deprive the Owner of other rights the Owner may have under other provisions of the Contract Documents and will be in addition to and run concurrent with other warranties made by the Contractor under requirements of the Contract Documents. VIRGIN ISLANDS PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS A. Available Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, manufacturers offering toilet accessories that may be incorporated in the Work include, but are not limited to, the following: A & J Washroom Accessories. American Specialties, Inc. Bobrick Washroom Equipment, Inc. Bradley Corporation. General Accessory Manufacturing Co. McKinney/Parker. AM PWNS> 2.2 MATERIALS, GENERAL A. Stainless Steel: AISI Type 302/304, with polished No. 4 finish, 0.034 inch (0.9 mm) minimum thickness. B. Mirror Glass: Nominal 6.0 mm thick, conforming to ASTM C 1036, Type I, Class 1, Quality q2, and with silvering, electro- plated copper coating, and protective organic coating. C. Stainless Steel Mirror Surfaces: Not less than 0.04 inch (1.0 mm) AISI Type 302/304 stainless steel sheet, stretcher-leveled with No. 8 polished mirror finish. Bond to 1/4 inch (6 mm) minimum hardboard backing. D. Galvanized Steel Mounting Devices: ASTM A 153, hot-dip galvanized after fabrication. E. Fasteners: Screws, bolts, and other devices of same material as accessory unit, or of galvanized steel where concealed. 2.3 PAPER TOWEL DISPENSERS A. Surface-Mounted Towel Dispensers: Fabricate of stainless steel with hinged front equipped with tumbler lockset. Provide pierced slots at sides as refill indicators. 1. Capacity: Not less than either 300 C-fold or 400 multifold paper towels without special adapters. Verify C-fold or multifold with Owner. 2. Locate one at the following rooms: 2.4 TOILET TISSUE DISPENSERS A. Roll-In-Reserve Dispenser: Fabricate of stainless steel for mounting indicated below, size to store and dispense either 4-1/2 inch (113 mm) diameter or 5 inch (125 mm) diameter core tissue rolls, with reserve roll placed in service by automatic release or by action of manual release bar. Hinge front of unit with pivot hinge and secure with tumbler lockset. 1. Mounting: Surface mounted, concealed anchorage. 2. Provide one at each water closet. 2.5 COMBINATION TOWEL DISPENSER/WASTE RECEPTACLE UNITS A. Recessed Unit: Stainless steel combination unit fabricated for nominal 4-inch wall depth with continuous, seamless wall flange. Towel compartment in upper portion of unit designed to dispense not less than 400 C-fold or 700 multifold paper towels. VIRGIN ISLANDS portion of unit provided with reusable, heavy-duty vinyl liner, minimum 4 gallon (15 L) capacity. Provide flush doors with piano hinges and tumbler locks on upper and lower compartments. Verify C-fold or multifold with Owner. 2.6 GRAB BARS A. Stainless Steel Type: Provide grab bars with wall thickness not less than 0.05 inch (1.3 mm) and as follows: I. Mounting: Concealed, manufacturer's standard flanges and anchorages. 2. Clearance: 1-1/2 inch (38 mm) clearance between wall surface and inside face of bar. 3. Gripping Surfaces: Manufacturer's standard nonslip texture. 4. Heavy-Duty Size: Outside diameter of 1-1/2 inches (38 mm). 5. Penal - type with full continuous closure between bar and wall. 2.7 SOAP DISPENSERS A. Liquid Soap Dispenser, Horizontal-Tank Type: Fabricate for surface mounting, sized for 40 fluid (1180 ml) ounce minimum capacity. Provide stainless steel piston, springs, and internal parts designed to dispense soap in measured quantity by pump action. Provide cover of type 304 stainless steel in No. 4 finish, with unbreakable window-type refill indicator. 1. Equip unit with push-type valve for dispensing soap in liquid form. 2. Locate one at each of the following rooms: 2.8 SEAT-COVER DISPENSERS A. Surface-Mounted Type: Fabricate of stainless steel with concealed opening at bottom for filling; capacity not less than 250 seat covers. 2.9 MIRROR UNITS A. Provide glass mirror and shelf units as shown on Drawings 2.10 FABRICATION A. General: No names or labels are permitted on exposed faces of toilet and bath accessory units. On either interior surface not exposed to view or on back surface, provide identification of each accessory item either by a printed, waterproof label or a stamped nameplate indicating manufacturer's name and product model number. B. Surface-Mounted Toilet Accessories, General: Except where otherwise indicated, fabricate units with tight seams and joints, exposed edges rolled. Hang doors or access panels with continuous stainless steel piano hinge. Provide concealed anchorage wherever possible. C. Recessed Toilet Accessories, General: Except where otherwise indicated, fabricate units of all-welded construction, without mitered corners. Hang doors or access panels with full-length, stainless steel piano hinge. Provide anchorage that is fully concealed when unit is closed. D. Framed Mirror Units, General: Fabricate frames for glass mirror units to accommodate wood, felt, plastic, or other glass edge protection material. Provide mirror backing and support system that will permit rigid, tamperproof glass installation and prevent moisture accumulation, as follows: 1. Provide galvanized-steel backing sheet, not less than 0.034 inch (0.9 mm) and full mirror size, with nonabsorptive filler material. Corrugated cardboard is not an acceptable filler material. S. VIRGIN ISLANDS PART 3 - Mirror Unit Hangers: Provide system for mounting mirror units that will permit rigid, tamperproof, and theft-proof installation, as follows: 1. One-piece, galvanized-steel, wall-hanger device with spring-action locking mechanism to hold mirror unit in position with no exposed screws or bolts. 2. Heavy-duty wall brackets of galvanized steel, equipped with concealed locking devices requiring a special tool to remove. Keys: Provide universal keys for access to toilet accessory units requiring internal access for servicing, resupply, etc. Provide minimum of six keys to Owner's representative. EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. C, Install toilet accessory units according to manufacturers’ instructions, using fasteners appropriate to substrate as recommended by unit manufacturer. Install units plumb and level, firmly anchored in locations and at heights indicated. Secure mirrors to walls in concealed, tamperproof manner with special hangers, toggle bolts, or screws. Set units plumb, level, and square at locations indicated, according to manufacturer's instructions for type of substrate involved. Install grab bars to withstand a downward load of at least 250 Ibf (1100 N), complying with ASTM F 446. 3.2 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. Adjust toilet accessories for proper operation and verify that mechanisms function smoothly. Replace damaged or defective items. Clean and polish all exposed surfaces strictly according to manufacturer's recommendations after removing temporary labels and protective coatings. END OF SECTION Jaredian Design Group
