UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION Purpose 1. To reconsider implementing the equalization of tuition rates paid by non-resident full-time and part-time students for the Fall 1992 semester; 2. To adopt a four (4) year plan for equalization of the rates. WHEREAS, the Board has approved a rate differential of three (3) times the undergraduate resident rate for undergraduate non-resident students, WHEREAS, this pricing policy has been in effect for non-resident full-time students for many years but not for non-resident part-time students. WHEREAS, the Board adopted a rate structure on March 8, 1992 which made the pricing policy now in effect for full-time non-resident students also applicable to non-resident part-time students, and WHEREAS, the Student Government is making the case that equalization of the rates paid by non-resident full-time and non-resident part-time students is a reasonable objective, but that the increase from $50.00 per credit to $150.00 in one year is excessive, and WHEREAS a request is being made for implementation of the equalization policy on a progressive basis; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: ay 1. That the Board of Trustees of the University hereby authorizes and approves a four (4) year plan for the equalization of rates paid by non-resident full-time and non-resident part-time students as follows: Year 1: Set the non-resident part-time rate by applying a factor of 1.5 to the resident undergraduate rate. Year 2 Set the non-resident part-time rate by applying a factor of 2.0 to the resident undergraduate rate. Board of Trustees Resolution Proposed Pricing Structure for Non-resident Part-time Students Year 3 Set the non-resident part-time rate by applying a factor of 2.5 to the resident undergraduate rate. Year 4: Set the non-resident part-time rate by applying a factor of 3.0 to the resident undergraduate rate. 2. That the President is authorized to implement the rates as approved effective with the Fall semester of 1992. CERTIFICATION The undersigned does hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands adopted at its meeting on Sunday June 28, 1992, as recorded in the minutes of said meeting.
