RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AUTHORIZING THE ADOPTION OF THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE PROGRAM I N COMPUTER SCIENCE WHEREAS, the Division of Science and Mathematics has proposed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (curriculum attached), which was reviewed and approved by the faculty, and WHEREAS, there is a strong market for graduates with the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and WHEREAS, UVI offers an Associate of Science degree in Computer Science, which will graduate its second class in May 1998, providing a cohort of 15 students who would enter the junior year of the Bachelor of Science degree program in the Fall 1998, and WHEREAS, new students entering the Associate of Science degree in Computer Science have increased from 43 in 1994, to 97 in 1997, indicating a high demand for the program, and WHEREAS, a Bachelor of Science degree program would benefit from the University’s excellent facilities in networks and communications systems, and WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Science degree program will be available …

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THE VIRGIN ISLANDS AUTHORIZING THE ADOPTION OF THE BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE PROGRAM I N COMPUTER SCIENCE WHEREAS, the Division of Science and Mathematics has proposed a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (curriculum attached), which was reviewed and approved by the faculty, and WHEREAS, there is a strong market for graduates with the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and WHEREAS, UVI offers an Associate of Science degree in Computer Science, which will graduate its second class in May 1998, providing a cohort of 15 students who would enter the junior year of the Bachelor of Science degree program in the Fall 1998, and WHEREAS, new students entering the Associate of Science degree in Computer Science have increased from 43 in 1994, to 97 in 1997, indicating a high demand for the program, and WHEREAS, a Bachelor of Science degree program would benefit from the University’s excellent facilities in networks and communications systems, and WHEREAS, the Bachelor of Science degree program will be available through distance learning to students on both campuses without the need to duplicate the faculty, and WHEREAS, the resources are presently available to sustain the program with up to 120 entering students and a total enrollment in the program of 300 students, BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science be approved for both campuses effective in the Fall of 1998. The undersigned does hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of the resolution of the Board of trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands adopted at its meeting on March 14, 1998, and recorded in the minutes of said meeting.
