AUGUST 2012 OCCUPANCY REPORT BUREAU OF ECONOMIC RESEARCH AUGUST HIGHLIGHTS There were 139,199 visitors to the Territory in August compared to 156,794 for the corresponding month last year. Only the St. Thomas and St. John district received Cruise passengers to the Territory this month, there was 89,692 cruise passenger arrivals. The Territory’s hotels reported occupancy rate averaged 41.2 percent this month, a 1.9 percentage point increase over last August. Territory-wide occupied room nights in August were up 2.3 percent to 64,242 from 62,828 in August 2011. The Hotel Occupancy Rate average 51.5 percent for the first eight months of this year, compared to 55.0 percent reported during August of last year. TOURISM STATISTICS JANUARY TO AUGUST 2012 A total of 1,852,443 visitors arrived in the Territory during the first eight months of 2012, unchanged from the number of visitors that came during in 2011.
