The Chairman remarked: 1 thought it would be better to let tne Council ap- point, the committee called for in the Resolution, end therefore, I have caused an amendmeat to be bhrought in, and which [ will now lay before you. The -Marine Corps- has announced that v all reservists or men enlsced for the duration of the war who do not signify in writing their desire 1o remain in the servize will be trarsferred to the United States for dischavge early in December. A special transport will be sent to the Virgin Islands to effect their transfer to the United States. The large num- ber of men anxious to take advantage of the opportunity to be home for Christ- mas will necessitate a redistribution of the Marines stationed at St. Croix and St. Thomas.
