Marchester, June 17th.—Following the action of the United Textile Work- ers at a joint meeting accepting the empl-yers offer for a settlement, the cot- ton strike in Lancashire was called off today. The settlement involves an im- mediate wage reduction and a further reduction at the end of six months, The textile workers associafion, which re- presents ail branches of cotton opera- tives, voted for resumption of work 266 against 227, and arrangements are being made {or a return*to work next Monday. London, June 17th. —The *‘Daily Kx- press’’ Mntimates that the Prince of Wales will visit India during the coming season Lord Reading, the viceroy of India, the paper says, has strongly re- commended a visit as likely to have an excelient effect Paris June 17th.—Lord Curzon arriv- ed here to confer with M. Briand re- lative to problems facing France and Great Britain. Great interest was taken in his visit to Paris in view of recent re- ports that Mr. Lloyd George was decided to confine his attention to home polities, leaving foreign affairs to Lord Curzou. Berlin, June 17th.--The compulsory delivery of 2.500,000 tons of grain by Germany out of this years harves. is pro- vided for in a bill adopted by the Reich- stag today, after a stormy debate, the Bourgeois parties advocating the meas- ure were solidly opposed by the three socialist factions. The latter demanding a national reverse stock of 4,500,000 tons which would amount to a coatinuation of the present system of Govt. control. The present action is the first step in abolish- ing official control and rationing of grain which it is believed here will be continu- ed permanently in 1922.
