As a result there are three sections of the existing fence line. (1) There are sections of the fence that appears as if nothing happened. (2) There are sections of the fence that have leaned and are out of alignment. (3) There are sections of the fence that have completely toppled over. A closer inspection of the toppled sections revealed the posts encased in concrete had a cover of 24 inches. This depth was determined to be inefficient for an eight foot fence and an additional 18 inches of post be welded and j/encased in concrete was proposed by DPW's engineer as a mitigation against a similar future event, Although there are three sections type of fencing, there are two sections of fencing style that encompasses the perimeter. The first style is a wrought iron fencing which encompasses a portion of the perimeter and the second is an anti-climb grated security fencing encompassing most of the perimeter. The scope of work will address a combined 1,833 L.F. of fencing in need of repair, The grated section of the fence is approximately 1,420 L.F. (yellow line) and the wrought iron section of the fence is 413 linear feet (red line). As it pertains to the grated security fence, it sa |is the Department's intention to use as much as the original fencing since most of the fence is intact. Portions of the razor and supporting wire however will have to be re-ordered as needed. Pertaining to the wrought iron fence, there are parts that shows signs of rusting and sections that needs to be repainted. Mean and method for fence repair include disassembly of fencing, welding an additional 18 inches of post to existing, use an 18 inch auger to desired depth (42 inches), re-align fence, encase in 3,000 psi concrete and re-run security barbed wiring assembly.
