September 26, 1919, On account of the large quantities of gasoline, oil, lumber, and other inflam.- able material stored in the Navy Yard, Hassel Island, Governor Oman has issued an order to the effect that smoking in the Navy Yard by officers or enlisted men except in their quarters is prohibited and violations of the order will be dealt with by disciplinary measures, Em- plovees smoking in the Navy Yard will be immediately discharged; persons not employees smoking in the Navy Yard will be immediately compelled by the proper authorities in charge to leave .Lhe reservation. v The installation in St. Thomas of the new battery near the flfig pole of. the Marine Barracks has been practically completed, the two guns comprising the battery will be tested out the latter part of this week or the early part of next week, when twp or three shots from eah gun will be fired iwo or three times.
