Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands Approving the Request for Proposals (RFP) for Construction/Installation and Operation of Two Off Grid Power Generating/Producing Facilities for the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) WHEREAS, the University of the Virgin Islands is committed to the wise and prudent use of renewable energy sources to power its operations as it provides high quality educational experiences for students and the community; and WHEREAS, a previous attempt to establish an alternative source of energy to meet the energy needs of the University was unreasonably delayed and therefore was halted: and WHEREAS, the high cost of energy has taken a significant toll on the financial position of the University and consumed resources that may otherwise have been used in the advancement of the mission and vision of the University; and WHEREAS, technology in this field has significantly evolved since a power purchase agreement was previously executed with an entity to establish an alternative source of energy for the University, and WHEREAS, UVI is committed to significantly reducing its carbon footprint by more than fifty percent over the next five years; and WHEREAS, the University is interested in receiving proposals from qualified vendors to provide power through alternative sources of energy; and WHEREAS, the UVI Building and Grounds Committee has recommended that the Board of Trustees approve the Request for Proposals (RFP) for Construction/Installation and Operation of Two Off Grid Power Generating/Producing Facilities for the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), which has been developed by the Administration. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands authorizes the President and Vice-President for Business Development and Innovation to issue the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Construction/Installation and Operation of Two Off Grid Power Generating/Producing Facilities for the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) in keeping with the provisions of the RFP. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption. CERTIFICATION The Undersigned does hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and exact copy of a resolution of the Board of Trustees of the University of the Virgin Islands adopted at a meeting on June 2, 2018 as recorded in the minutes of said meeting.
